Hutsul Musicians of Ukraine

In this film we tell the story of Dmytro Gontiak, a Hutsul wedding musician.

Driving through the Carpathians, Wild Frontiers’ video producer George came across a wedding party, with the wedding band in full swing. The musicians were playing traditional Hutsul songs to welcome the groom to the bride’s house. Stopping to find out more, George was warmly welcomed into the bride’s family home.

One of the wedding musicians, Dmytro, was happy to talk to George about his love for Hutsul music, in between celebratory shots of vodka. This was a unique insight into the wedding traditions and culture of the Hutsul people.
